Books I've Read In 2021

This year I have made it my mission to read more! I tried to last year and I failed... But this year I have read 20 books and it's only June! Today I'm sharing reviews on all the books I've read so far this year!

Before I share my reviews I have to let yall in on the best app for reading! If you haven't tried the app Libby, you're missing out! This app lets you read ebooks from your local library for FREE! If you don't have a library card you can sign up on the app! It is so easy to use! You do have to wait in line for popular books and you get 12 days to read most books, but it has saved me tons of money this year! I have been able to read so many books using this app!

I also use the Kindle app with Kindle unlimited through Amazon! There are so many free books to choose from on there as well! I love that I can also read my Libby downloads on the Kindle app so it makes it easy to pick up where I left off when I switch between reading on my phone and Kindle Paperwhite!

So let's get to some book reviews!

Verity by Colleen Hoover

This was definitely a book that I could not put down! I think that being so caught up in this book made me start to love reading again! I was so wrapped up in the story and trying to figure out what was going on! I love the twists of this book and the suspense was just enough to be the perfect thriller! If you are looking to start reading and what a fun spicy thriller to get into, I highly recommend it!

My rating 5/5

Beach Read by Emily Henry

Beach Read was also really hard for me to put down! I haven't read a cute love story in a while and I loved this one! This is the perfect book to take with you on vacation! It was a really quick read for me because I was really caught up in the characters! I found myself rooting for them to end up together! It was a book that left me feeling all giddy and I loved it! I also really loved how the storyline wasn't your typical romance novel. It had some depth to their story, literally. It's about to writers overcoming writer's block! So if you aren't a fan of your typical boy meets girl plots, this is a good one!

My rating 5/5

The Return by Nicholas Sparks

I have never read any Nicholas Sparks books before and after reading this one, I know what the hype is about! This style of Nicholas Sparks' writing is so easy to follow and actually picture which I loved! This story was set in North Carolina and some in SC so I loved that I was able to actually picture some of the locations in the story! It was a really good southern story of a man taking over his grandfather's property. There is definitely a love story in this novel and it was super unexpected. I found myself shocked at this twist of the story and normally I am good at predicting them! So I am really hoping that this one turns into a movie because it would make for an interesting one for sure! The storyline did read a little bit slow and it almost ended on a cliffhanger, so that's the reason for my rating!

My rating 4/5

The Midnight Library by Matt Haig

I found the Midnight Library on the Libby app and I was interested to read it because so many people were in line to read it. So naturally, I got in line too... I have no idea why these people wanted to read this book. It was about having many different possibilities in life and every chapter was a new story/possibility. If you are a fan of having multiple stories in one, you might like this one. But I am not a fan of these types of books. I felt like it was a slow read and I was just hoping for it to get better or have a good ending but it didn't. Maybe I missed a metaphor for life on this one but I wasn't a fan lol.

My rating 3/5

Untamed by Glennon Doyle

Ok. So this one could have a very loaded review from me but I'll refrain... I hated this book. I didn't even finish it. 10/10 not my cup of tea. It's got a cute cover tho...

My rating 1/5

The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides

The Silent Patient definitely ties with Verity for my favorite book read so far this year! I have been obsessed with a good thriller lately and this was a good one! It wasn't a jump scare type thriller but more of a psychological thriller. The whole time you are following one story only to realize it's completely different than you think. The twist at the end of this book was one that I did not see coming at all which made me enjoy the book that much more. This is a super-fast read so it's perfect for a pool day or a beach read!

My rating 5/5

The Last House Guest by Megan Miranda

The Last House Guest was one that I wasn't in love with but I didn't hate it. The storyline was one where you spent putting clues together to figure out who was guilty of what was going on in the book. It was an unexpected ending but also not a shocker. I would recommend this book if you are looking for a light read! Something you can get into but don't have to be so invested that you can't put it down.

My rating 4/5
